no not if your hair is naturally stright..if its naturally wavy or curly then yes other wise your S.O.L unless you want to curl and a perm will last for four months or more

i would suggest getting some bangs they are always sooo cute also some layers even in ponytails i think layers really help give the hair some shape and then when you take it down it looks really good! : )

My advice is to buy the current allure and look at their advice for making loose curls. They are very trendy and easy to do. If you are not able to buy allure, just try buying a mouse that enhances curls and scrunch your hair so that you have very natural and loose curls that you can wear alone, in a side ponytail, or with a chunky headband. A perm is the only thing to keep it wavy til it grows out.
They make kits for you to take home and perm your own hair. Have one of your friends do it for you. It's alot less expensive. Perms are only expensive because your paying the person who's doing it.

My natural hair is kinky/wavy so I usually put a relaxer in it for two-five minutes and once it's out, my hair is completely straight. So, I usually put gel in my hair so that it has a slight wave to it. I usually use infusium 23 and tresemme, but I think that my hair has gotten used to it because my hair is no longer hard-ish. What else should I use? If I don't put anything in it, it's straight with a bit waves.

Yes curly hair is more dominant but you probably got a recessive gene so you have straight hair.

buy a curl activator (kms has a great one) sleep in rollers, or twirl ur hair then put it up in a bun..i think the best thing is ceramic ho rolls, they really dont damage ur hair at all
one way is to buy thos foam hair culer things that you put in after washing your hair.. then blow dry them slighty with your hairdryer then sleep in them.. when you wake up in the morning yuo will have curly hair.
be warned though.... it takes a few practices to make it perfect.. so don't try it for the first time before somethig important :)

That is going to be hard and most likely you'll have a hard time accomplishing that goal. You can try using curling products, like mousse, gel or crunching spray. You can also try using shampoo meant for curly hair.
If you don't want to cause heat damage, use products that will prevent that from happening and always keep the irons on low. Or else you can just learn to love, live and accpect your beautiful and wonderful straight hair instead of trying to change it the way it was born.

When your hair is wet or damp, take really tiny strands of hair, twist it till it shrinks to your scalp then bobby pin it down. So by the end, you should have like over 30 "circles" of hair all around your scalp. leave that in over night, or several hours (at least 6 hours) then take em out in the morning and let your hair fall into place, or style how you want it!
Rollers, hands down. It took me over twenty years of trial and error to find the best curling rollers. Stay away from foam rollers...they tend to break your hair and leave indentations in your hair.
For much smoother, break free hair, use plastic rollers.
They can be found at beauty supply stores such as Sally's, for less than two dollars a dozen. They have a black elastic string built on that caps at the end of the roller. That prevents you from having a separate cap on the roller.
I have found these rollers are the ones cheerleaders sleep in before tournaments to get those really curly ponytails. Also, hairdressers frequently use them for sit under dryer styles.

I'm trying to rebuild its strength because it has been damaged from lots of dying and blow drying. I quit dying, I try not to blow dry my whole head, and use lots of treatments, so I'm looking for a way to make my hair wavy, but in a natural way so that I can continue to keep my hair on a healthy path to stop the damage that has been done.

You are right not to blow dry your hair. Try switching your shampoo and conditioner to Herbal Essences. They have TONS of formulas to get your hair JUST the way you want it. I'm pretty sure that they have a formula for getting your hair wavy, but I'm not completely sure. Also, you should get a cute new style! Try layers about down to your shoulders. That's what I have, and my hair is soft, and wavy! Take my advise and I'm sure you'll be happy by the end of the month.

I have curly hair and have had it relaxed professionally a few times, the last time it was the straightest it ever has been. The only thing relaxing my hair has done is made it easier to use the flat iron to make it straight. There is a relaxer that cost $500 or more that will straighten it so you won't need to. But i think you should keep it curly and not mess with it cause I regret processing it as much as i have. it doesn't curl the same i think it actually frizzes more now. and i where it curly all the time now.

I say that you should keep your long curls. It sounds pretty. Straightening it permanently can damage your hair. I think that curls are beautiful. My friend got her hair permanently straightened by a professional and it turned out awfully. She can't do anything with her hair, and her hairline is truthfully receding and she's going bald!! I'm not lying!! She's going to get something done about it, but I'm not so sure that it can replace all the damage done to it in the first place. And, whether or not models should have straight or curly hair is up to the agency you're modeling for. It just depends.
A lot of people who want to straighten their hair do it because they are frustrated with curls that are out of control. Try Mixed Chicks hair products. It's a good system for controlling frizz. Start with wet hair if possible. Comb hair up and out so it gets body.
Depending on the thickness of your hair, part it into at least four sections using a large-toothed comb.
Braid each section and secure with a no-snag elastic hairband.
Sleep in the braids overnight to get the best look.
Unbraid your hair when you get up in the morning. Bend over and tousle your hair with your fingers.
Divide each of the four sections into four individual sections with a rat-toothed comb. Do this one section at a time.
With each of the four "mini" sections, backcomb your hair gently until you achieve your desired Afro.

I think really the only way to do it is to get a REALLY heavy duty perm. You'll have to get some pretty damn tiny curls, and if you don't have a lot of hair (or particularly thick hair), you'll probably have to get extensions to help with the extreme valume required for an afro.
Once your hair is super extra curly, you'd probably have to use a volumizing shampoo to get it bigger, back comb it a ton, brush it out, and use plenty of hairspray.
I'd probably recommend consulting a stylist more than anything, because something like making straight hair into an afro probably isn't something I would trust to doing yourself.

There are those hair curlers that they sell in packs at like Target..that you just roll up on your hair..using no pins...(they stick to your hair) and then there are the types that I have always used with the pink snap closure that I have also always gotten my hair all messed up and tangled in...and knotted as well!
Also, there are one small barrel curling irons..and two barrell curling irons..as well as hot curlers...but, I need help...what would be some great curlers to use..I don't really want to buy the hot iron set....I would rather try the plastic roll ups and or the double barrel curling iron..but, I don't know what curlers are much better for hair that is straight?

I use plastic roll-ups; the kind you put a pic through from behind to hold in place. When inserting the pics, be sure to place them where they are most comfortable.
Here's what to look for. Look for a brand that is soft and flexible; they won't hurt even if you sleep on them. To keep the hair from slipping off the ends of the curlers, get curlers with teeth that go all the way to the ends. And rollers with longer teeth hold better. (I use various size rollers.)
Tips:
For a firmer curl, make sure hair is wet when rolling up.
For a looser wave, hair only needs to be slightly damp.
Unlike hot irons that burn the hair ends, curlers are gentler on the hair preventing split ends and promoting faster, healthier hair growth.
i prefer the curling iron, easier, faster, not messy and stay longer. put some mousse and take a little part of ur hair. spray the end of the part that u r going to make with strong hold hair spray then curle it with the curling iron. gud luck.

I'm not sure if you are referring to an actual iron that you iron clothes with, but your options are hot combs and flat irons, also known as Marcel Irons. They are normally heated by electric stoves. I'm sure you are already familiar with the type that you can plug in. This is something that you need to get a professional to do because you could burn your hair right out of your head. If you don't want to deal with irons period, then the only other thing is a chemical relaxer.
Tie heavy weights to your hair and hang upside down for several hours. Gravity is wonderful!

when you get out of the shower immediatly blow-dry your hair with a brush pulling it to straighten it.

If your hair is real curly im afraid you will have to use a straightener.
Sleek shampoo and conditioner by Matrix, then put some light hold gel in your hair and keep combing it until it's almost dry, hit it with the blow dryer until completely dry. Then use a flat iron. That should make it super straight. You might be able to do the gel comb thing without the blow dryer or iron, but you won't get the results you want unless you use a chemical straightener. The new Japanese ones are really good.
My friend has really curly hair and she uses a CHI straightener and she can straighten her hair in less than 10 minutes... I think buying a good straightener is the best decision... It's better than putting nasty chemicals in your hair or doing something permanent

There are hair relaxing treatments that really help but they might do some damage to your hair. So I would advise using a hair straightener daily or whenever you decide you want straight hair. just make sure you use a good shampoo and deep conditioner I would recomend redkin all soft, and redkin spray starch and chi iron guard when using a straightening iron, make sure its a good ceramic one that helps any damage. Its really hard to make someones hair straight without having to use a flat iron or blow dryer the best thing I could say is check into some relaxing treatments but like I said they cause some substantial damage and split ends so I would really just stick to a flat iron. Well, if you don't have thick hair, it's really hard. But if you do, just take a shower, or wet all your hair, and let it air dry.
I depends on how straight your hair is- if it has a bit of natural wave, this will make it a more curly, but if your hair is absolutely straight, this will give it a wave. Brush your hair in the shower, with conditioner still in it. Then rinse the conditioner out- but dont brush or comb your hair again. towel dry your hair- not doing a crazy back and forth shake with it, just pat it down with a towel. comb through a little with your fingers if you like. Then, use either leave-in conditioner or hair gel (not a lot, otherwise it gets crunchy), making sure to get gel on the fingertips in between fingers- and starting at the roots, using your fingers to sort of lightly toss/comb through your hair. and do at the back of your head, underneath as well (otherwise only the top layer will be cruly) then, scrunch the ends of the hair. my sister likes to lightly twirl the gel-ed hair around her finger to make ringlets. dont use too much gel- otherwise it will weight the hair down. then DONT touch it!!! leave it to dry. I'm assuming you don't want curls, but not crimps either. Here is a hot iron that has interchangeable plates for straight hair, crimped hair and wavy hair. I'll bet the wavy one is just what you want. Here's also a much less expensive three-barrel curling iron that does waves.

Hardly.
In reality there are a lot of commercials (especially hair ones) that show women with full, voluminous curls and waves. It is true hair color commercials are mostly straight hair but that's probably because straight hair shows highlights and color better than some curly hair.
But as far as product goes, try and shift your focus because there are definitely a lot of bouncy curls goin on in those commercials. :)

I think (as i realize someone already said) highlights show up better on a straight surface than a wiggly one :) I think you can better see all the layers and colours in pin straight hair. the more body hair has, the less you notice exactly where the colour depth is.. I mean, that's my guess. I find commercials for shampoo products show more curly or wavy hair because it bounces more.

I have curly hair myself and i love it, but when i feel like hacing straight hair i use my flat iron.I think people with curly hair have an advantage because when we get tired of the curls we can straighten it, unlike poeple with staright hair they wish they could curl it once in a while but all it does is get wavy.So be glad that you have culry hair.

guess what i was straight hair...but now thats out and the 80's are back with the tight curls! yes i find it annoying that the straight look is shoved down our throats! you should try water fall curls. they look really cute.
maybe u had a bad mousse. try the pantene scrunching mousse, its only like $3 and is really good. also, u need to buy a finishing spray to hold the waves/curls.
well, i have really straight hair, so what i do is sometimes i put in really fashionable headbands, and sometimes i wear my hair in a ponytail, or I put it in a half pony tail. I usually do that but,i also let my hair done a lot.
I would iron your hair very curly and then put it up in a bun or just plain ponytail. I have the same type of hair it really looks good on me.

i dont know if u like curly hair or not, so i put a few suggestions down anyway, and some other ones:
for waves, sleep in braids. (the number depending on how wavy you want your hair. i would probably recommend about eight or so) then you just take them out in the morning and just brush the top of your hair. you can use hairspray, but i usually dont need it, but then again, my hair holds waves really well......
and if you shower in the morning, scrunch your hair with mousse and it looks pretty good but might get a little frizzy.
and as for just regular hairstyles, i would try sidebangs or whispy bangs instead of thick ones......dont know ....
you can also do buns, because they are pretty in, or low pigtails, but you might be a little old for them, but my sister in college looks cute in them so i dont know.....
and side ponytails are cute and sporty.
as for hairbands, very cute and in!!!
u could wear your hair half-up, leaving your bangs down.....

personally i would recommend some long layers starting no shorter than chin length then ask you stylist to frame the layers around your face. this will add some movement and style but you can keep long hair and you can still put it up

It really depends on what kind of hair you have, and what your looking for...but basically if you have very very straight hair, your only option may be a curling iron/hot curlers. You may be able to experiment with some various creams, gels, spray, serums, etc as well as shampoos and conditioners. I have used Garnier Fructis products with great success, as well as any type of "sprunching" spray/gel. It will mostly take a lot of trial and error, because it all depends on what kind of hair you have. Good luck :)

straight hair on men looks like you made an effort and the best way to keep it is to put a little serum on it first and then a touch of wax to keep it in longer....
Sure straight hair is fine. You could use a product like Bedhead, keeps the frizz down and holds straighness longer.

I have fine, straight hair that puffs up and frizzes very bad after I take a shower and dry it off. I'm a male and want to give it a weighted down look with the straight look and without the frizzes. Try BedHead's "After Party".. it just makes the hair really light and soft... It might help tame the frizz.
use conditioner in the shower. there are also "leave in" conditioners you can apply to damp hair after showering.
note to the chick who uses pantene- don't. ask your stylist, she should confirm that almost all products, and i know this sounds silly, the start with a "P" are bad for your hair. but i've heard this from several sources. i think it has something to do with containing silicone.
I'd look into a anti-frizz serum product -- there are many varieties available in the health %26amp; beauty section of your drug store.
i have the same kind of hair, and i always get "fly-aways" for my shorter strands. i got pantene anti-frizz serum. it works really well for me. it's a bit on the expensive side, but it's worth it, imo.

2) buy the shampoo and conditioner called sunsilk they have a kind for every hair need

Shampoo, Conditioner, Affter Shower anti-frizz stuff. Try Ganai Frutis. They Woor really well for oily and hard to grow hair. Just look them up and see what they can do for you.
There are some sprays, for this I'm not sure what brands, they are located in the same isle as the shampoos, they will say for frizz control, many women use these, but they work the same on men, one of them are (excuse spelling) Garnier nutrients, in a green round bottle, this one pumps out, you put a small ammount one the hand and work it through the hair.

chi flat irons are the best. they will straighten the kinkiest of hair (not saying your hair is kinky) just if it works on that type of hair it will work on yours. I have curly hair and my brother's girlfriend let me use her chi irons and it worked miracles. looks just like u have a relaxer. and don't use a boar bristle brush that will break your ends off and split them also. use the kind of brush that (i use this for lack of a better word and i don't know the name of it) but use the kind that caucasian women might use in their hair. it stimulates the scalp and promotes growth. it's the type of brush that has the wire with the little rubber/plastic balls at the tip of it. also if u use thermasilk in the brown bottle it's for kinky or curly (african american hair)

Hi I'll help you! First it's washed and towel dry-ed right? Then add your straightening product or the gel if it's not a hard holding type. Start blow drying it from the roots to the ends. *(Using a round brush with a metal surface will heat up when blow drying and act as a conductor to straigten the hair faster). Then once it's completely dry, take your flat iron and clip the hair out of your way and start working on the most curly/wavy parts in small sections. Usually, that's the (underneath) and then work your way up to the top strands, which work best if saved for last.
OH..., If you have another thermal hold spray or straightening spray NOW, would be the time to put it on. Once, you have your way through the worst sections, for a faster job, go through your hair with smaller sections and smooth the rest to blend it together. After your done, don't forget a light holding aerosol hairspray to hold it together or a shine spray. This is the fastest way to straighten hair. I've been a cosmetologist for 12 years. I have wavy-ish and rather frizzy hair. I wash three times a week, condition every other day, and blow dry when I want it straight. Blow drying with a straight brush makes it easier to style straight, then follow with a conair ceramic straightener (don't use metal). Brush each section before you straighten, and brush the entire look when you're done follow with citre-shine spray to keep it smooth.
Get any kind of flat iron, but make sure to blow dry your hair, not air dry it first. After that, get a brush that won't stimulate curl.
simple just use water,. hair gel, and hair iron lightly..
That is spary water where it is curley and try rub a bit with ur figures and apply hair gel the good one which not too strong or sticky, and iron it lightly and there u r, ..

The brand is not really that important for the flat iron. But get the one as flat as possible and that will help you to get into your hair more easily, you will understand what am I talking about when you're doing it. The one that I have is Conair which you can buy from Target Stores, I don't remember how much I paid for it but I think it should be affordable for everyone.
For the brush, just use any kind of brush is for straightening hair that should do, then you should use I hand to hold the brush and the other hand to hold the flat iron while you brush your hair down from top, remember to do it slowly.

if your hair is dry when you are straighten it then you should use the GHD (good hair day) they are awesome the best thing i have ever used but they don't come cheep!!! my mum is a hairdresser and i worked with some really good brands there are also ceramic GHD brushes that you can get as well and you can curl ur hair to with the GHD as well ....but if it goes fluffy or kinky you should put some product in 2 Ur hair or like a flattening spray or something i really recommend Schwarzkopf BC (bonacure) hair therapy moisture kick leave-in conditioner or nu:u anti-frizz serum any thing that is an anti frizz or moisturiser would help but u could always go to a hairdressers and ask what they recommend

If your hair is really unruly use align 12 ultra straightening by Redken. It will leave your hair shiny and it will also make the straightening process easy. If it isn't that unruly use straight 05 straightening balm by redken it won't be as strong as the align 12 but if your hair isn't that unruly you should use this one. It will also leave your hair shiny. These products also help protect your hair from some heat that may be applied in the straightening process. I would also use smooth down by redken for shampoo and conditioner. This may cost a little more then department store products but it will make a huge difference in your hair care. It is also a lot more concentrated, so it will last longer then most. You can also make sure that you use a ceramic straightener, they work a lot better. If you are trying to scrunch your hair, as you are scrunching it in you hand you should spray hair spray along with the mouse that you have in your hand that is doing the scrunching. If you are trying to get a wave,try putting your hair in wet braids overnight and lightly hairspray it once it is in 2 braids. Then when you take them out in the morning hair spray your hair again. Well, you could trim your hair... Or use smoothing milk of some sort, which straightens most kinds of hair pretty well, and it doesn't damage hair...
It might be the straightner you are using. I used this one straightner and it never straighted my hair and gave me split ends. I suggest the chi hair straightner, but it is really expensive. You just need an ionic one, or limit your use.
You need to get the flat iron by Maxius I had the same problem using my Chi but since I got my Maxius my ends are great as well as the rest of my hair and I straighten my daily too... You can get them on HSN or ebay they are a little pricey but well worth it...
Split ends start from the bottom. You have to trim your hair to get rid of them.
I have naturally curly hair and whenever I get my hair cut I ask for her to straighten it. What do you think looks better.I just don't really know I were my hair up in a pony tail a lot like every day and my hiar line is reseeding wich reaaaallly stinks! So i have to wear my hair down now and I have no clue which way looks better. Please help!

Both are really cute! But here are some things I think, this is just my opinion though.
STRAIGHT HAIR- It makes you look older and more mature.
CURLY HAIR- It makes you look younger.
They're both really great though.

OK, so you should TOTALLY wear your hair straight. But, It would look REALLY cute clipped up in the back. Maybe you could take a little bit down on the sides, framing your face. Ask your friends, too. I have the same problem, except I got a perm, and now, I don't know which way to go with my face shape.
im black....my hair is a little coarse and its poofy and i dont know what product to use to straighten it. I use a ceramic straightening comb by Gold and Hot. It gets it pretty straight, But it curls at the end and i want it straight straight straight! So what products would you use to get a black persons hair to be deadly straight? .....by the way....i DONT HAVE A PERM, IVE NEVER HAD 1, AND I DONT PLAN ON GETTING 1. thanks
Use the hot comb to get the majority of the curl out, and a flat iron to get the ends straight. It's really difficult to make the ends straight with a hot comb...A good flat iron would really be better than the hot comb (and yes I do know how to use both and have experience with black and white hair).
try coconut Oil.....thats the one i always use...i straight my hair everyday and if i dont use the coconut it it gets really poofy by the end of the day.......i really really recommend it.... u can fin it at walgreens or at any beauty supply its really cheap like 3 dollars u cant find the coconut oil try blue magic is the same thing..... just put it before you straight it...

Ok well 3 or 4 years ago i got my hair braided.3 months later i got them taken out.Since then my hairs now frizzy and thick.My hair use to be naturally straight and shiny untill i got the braids.Does anyone have any ideas how i could get my straight hair back?
Could cutting all my hair off be an answer?

I wouldn't cut it all off, just wait it out. Use a good smoothing conditioner (I like Biolage) and a flat iron afterwards.

I had a similar thing happen - I had long straight hair, and my cousin - whom I was compared to my entire life, got a short hair cut. So my mother made me get mine cut too. From then on, I've had wavy hair. I really think our hair changes as we get older. I have to flat iron my hair all the time now.
Just use good products, I like Biolodge and Hiku brand hair products - they both seem to keep my hair looking healthiest.

Try using a flat iron every day. My hair used to be super curly/wavy, but after using a flat iron every day it still curls a little but not as much as it did before becuase I have trained it to be straight. Also try using some straighting prodcuts such as gel or cream before using the flat iron. Now these days they have straighting shampoo and conditioners. Good Luck!!
I have naturally straight hair that gets wavy when it is wet. It looks really cute like that, but it straightens out completely when drying. I want to show off those curls without having to bother with curlers/curling iron. I have already tried blowdrying it when wet, but even that straightens my hair out. I have also tried scrunching/hairspraying my wet hair. Are there any products or techniques out there to get my hair wavy/curly?
Have you tried using a diffuser attachment on your hairdryer? Wet your hair, and load it up with a curl-defining mousse. Then flip your head upside down and blow dry with the diffuser. It will send out heat but cut the force of the hairdryer. Scrunch hair while you dry it. Once it is about 3/4 dry, flip head upright, spray with a spray gel and dry the rest of the way. Your waves should hold.
I have the same problem! What I found to work for me is to use a diffuser attachment with your blow dryer. Scrunch your hair with your hands using a light gel while drying it with a diffuser. Hope this helps!
I have the same hairtype and do the following when i want it to stay curly/wavy. First, try to touch it as little as possible, every time you "scrunch" it pulls on the hair and straightens. After I towel dry my hair, I flip my head over, gather my hair loosely like a pony tail, twist and wrap it around and down and clip with a banana clip. I am just reversing the way all the girls use to wear their hair when the banana clips first came out and the loose part was at top. Now you just do it the opposite as this keeps the curls in the lower part of your hair. I keep it like this to dry or dry it like this with the blow dryer (although this can make it a little frizzy). Hope I explained that well enough, hard to describe.
first apply curl enhancing cream to damp hair and scrunch to begin creating waves...second blow dry hair 2 inches away to add volume and texture...masssage roots with fingers until your hair is dry...third...wrap random sized sections of hair around the curling iron...curl all the way to the roots hold for five seconds...four let your hair cool for two minutes run your fingers through the curls to break them up...and mist with hairspray

is there any way to control the hairs..also i had my hair thinned and now its kinda curling out in layers which looks awful..but when im outside, its really humid where i live, and my hair just looks awful ..like i havent washed it and brushed it.(even tho i have.of course)..i put sunsilk hydra tlc in my hair and it makes my hair soft but it doesnt control the flyaways like it says. Is there sumthing i can do to control my hair? Any product? preferably something like at walmart..please tell me the name and brand..Thanks!
Well, you have many choices... There's Garnier Fructisse, that stuff really works, then you have Frizz-Eaze by John Frieda and that works until rain comes( forget about having straight hair in moisture w/ frizz eaze, and then there's sun silk, i think it's green that controls the frizz. go to your hair salon and get bio-silk..great for fly-a way's..cost is a little expense but worth it
u can use Frizz Ease (at walmart) or go to a salon and buy Paul Mitchell super skinny serum or Redken glass....they all work really well but only use very little and not by ur scalp or hair will look greasy!! good luck!!
I love Paul Mitchell's Gloss Drops. Just a tiny bit goes a long way and keeps my fly-aways down. I also have straight hair that I had to have thinned out.
The name of the stuff I use is Freeman's Papaya Anti Frizz Cream I got it at wal mart (its for flyaways too)

I think you need the Purple line-up. Maybe add a dab of 24/7 anti poof Dark blue in too.
Right now I mix the 24/7 dark blue with some of tthe pink for this Las Vegas weather. Works nicely.
