I'm Asian (female) %26amp; my hair is straight %26amp; fine. But if you look closely, individual hairs on my head are very wavy. Some strands are thick and curly. WHY IS THIS? Isn't someone's hair supposed to be just straight or just curly? I don't do anything to my hair except occasional blow drying and hair spray. No perming, coloring, ponytails, gel, etc.
This should be normal. Every hair has its different shape and form, so it's okay if some of your hair is thicker than others, has natural highlights, or is wavier or curlier than others. I hope this information helped you.

Has it always been that way or is this a new development? If it's new, you may want to ask a doctor. Or did you just get a hair cut? I had LONG hair for quite some time. When I finally cut it off my hair was so wavy! I guess it was just weighed down before.
Or, like the other person said, it could be humidity. And the fact you don't put much product in your hair could be aiding the frizz.
It just happens that way, my hair is thick and i have to flat iron it everyday because all the hair underneath is curly or wavy and the top is to heavy to curl all the way, so I either have to curl it all or straighten it all so it looks the same. baby hair underneath sometimes tends to be fine and curlier than the rest of your hair.

It's gotta to be the humidity. I am asian, too. I have the same problem. I did not have a problem with my hair when I lived in CA, but here in NC, my hair is always acting funny from the humidity.

If you're born with straight hair then straight hair you will have. Meaning, just let your hair naturally grow out, cut off the wavy portion %26amp; stop tying it up as much. Instead, clip it with a butterfly clip if your hair gets in the way. Even after you wash your hair, don't tie it up constantly...it will stay straighter that way. If you want perfection straight hair then there are flat irons and japanese hair treatments you can get done.

I have heard that flat irons harm or cause damage to ur hair cause of the heat they produce so what about permanent straightening? My friends say that it will also cause severe damage to hair...So then what about the celebrities out there...how do they manage it?Not only that many of my friends in Uk and U.S have done it beautifully.They never said anything about hair fall or anything...Tell me more about relaxing and hair rebonding.... heat is the most damagein thing to yer hair......except for a relaxer/perm. stick to the flat iron girl, you can go to a beauty supply store and get a thermal tool protector. i use glossing polish by procclaim and i have no problem with my hair and since i do hair, i have on of the top of the line, very hot, irons. a relaxer can make your hair break off, and be damaged. and if your stylist dont know what shes doin, you can end up with chemical burns, bald spots and half straigh, half not straight hair.
Straightning your hair will only damage it if you straighten it more than once a day.
CHI is a very good staightner, but is expensive.
I recommend it though!
I have wavy hair naturally, and have alot of success blowing it out with a really super wide round brush. It comes out "poker straight" - just make sure you use a straightening product before you blow it out, and do it in sections!
ghds are brilliant straightners i have naturally waved hair and use these u can buy protective sprays which stop the heat from the irons damaging your hair i use mine all the time and my hair is in great condition.
I have wavy hair that has to be straightened to look good. So here's the best way to keep your hair nice but still straighten it. Use a nice straightener not a cheap walmart brand. DO NOT straighten your hair wet! (it fries easier that way); also you can buy products that will help protect your hair when straightening it from a nice hair salon, try Bedhead products or Toni %26amp; guy. if you have really wavy/curly hair, first blow dry it using a defuser, a low heat (cool or warm will work well) and a flat brush, then follow up with the straightener. Doing these things will keep your hair from falling out and will also keep it looking nice and shiny while still keeping it idealy healthy! hope i helped!

i always use straighting iron.my secret is not to keep it in one spot! they sell some oil in Sally's beaty supplies its a pink bottle and it protects you hair when straightening it, you put it on before and after...its called "IC hair polisher and heat protecter"! (its a clear pink bottle)

Flat iron does harm your hair tremendously. But permanent straightening cause even more, and is not even permanent, after a few months, it will fade. Permenant straightening is 100% chemicals...Basically. Which will dry out, make unehealthy looking hair, tons of split ends, and dull. If you like the straight look, after you wash your hair, get a brush and a blow dryer, and straighten it like that! Its so much less damaging to your hair!

Use a straightner with ceramic blades to stop the frizz. My aunt gets her hair chemically straightened every year because her hair is really frizzy and big. her hair looks gorgeous, but it's not for everyone. Her hair does NOT fade, split or look dreadful in a few months!!! Her hair is even more shiny and she's learnt to look after it properly.Trends come and go, in a few months curly hair is probaby going to be in, what will you do then? Imagine the regrowth after your hair has been chemically straightened!! My advice is to use a ceramic blade straightner, use straightning shampoo and conditioner and ALWAYS use a heat protection spray/gel before your straighten your hair. I straighten my hair. But, straightening it takes FOREVER since I have such thick hair. Washing your hair the night before and allowing it to air dry, depending on your hair, could make it straighter. When I blow dry my hair it is a mess, but when I air dry it comes out perfect.
buy an attachment for your blowdryer(make sure it will fit first) it's kind of like a pick on the end of your blowdryer. so your 'combing and drying in one step' It takes a lot of the curl out for you
Try using a hair straighting gel on your hair before, you blow dry it and use a low setting(cool) on your blow dryer, not high.I wish i had your problem, my hair is straight, i'd like some body in it. To get body, I have to dry it upside down, so try to hold dryer straight down on your hair, and use a large round brush, made for blow drying and dry sections at a time.
I have very thick hair too. I think I have every strand that I was ever born with. I takes for ever to straighten/dry even with tricks but what works best for me when I do it myself is...
1. I apply a leave in conditioner or lite hair oil-I love aveda products.
2. I part it off in 4 sections (front to back/side to side) and clip down.
3. Blow dry 1 section at a time 1 row at a time w/ round roller brush with a dryer that has a heat concentator nozzle on it.
4.I usually try to get a trim every 4-6 wks. (If your hair is longer that 8" layers are nice/easy to maintain/%26amp; gorgeous with/without color).
This process still takes anywhere from 30min-1hr but I notice it cuts down on flat iron time, if any at all.
When I blow dry freestyle I tend to get a puff ball and look like simba (from lion king). It takes forever to dry and even longer to straighten! No other short cuts....sorry!!!

taking about a 1/2 inch to an inch of hair from each side
of your face, pulling it back, combing it, then snapping it in place with a barret is simple and adorable, also very popular.

Anyway, about the color, if you want it black, have it colored by your colorist or by yourself. Try L'Oreal or Garnier.
To make your curly hair more manageable, use shampoo %26amp; conditioner with lots of moisturizer. Try looking for products with olive, honey, eggs or yoghurt.
Deep condition once a week to give your hair more 'weight'.
If you want to skip daily ironing, try chemical rebodnding. But make sure your hair is in healthy condition and you need to take extra treatment afterwards.
Last but not least, never ever iron your hair without giving it serum or heat protector first to keep it healthy and to avoid frizz.

I had straight hair right up until 3 years ago. I had a bad perm and it was over processed. I shaved it off and then it grew back so curly..I also have dark brown hair but I felt it looked so dull. Trust be black makes you look hard.. I went for a chestnut brown which has some nice aurbun highlights.. Both curly and the colour looks great..Just try the colour.. Trying to straighten hair is annoying.. And to Think people pay heaps to have curls..we save on money and look hot..

My hair get greasy easily. I need a new shampoo for straight thick hair. I want the scent to be a good smelling scent thats strong and last all day. Because my hair is so thick it is a little hard to wash some shampoos out. I also like conditioners those can be real tough to wash out. Any suggestions??

Why not try a new style on your PC first and see if it fits you or if you like it or not. Hair styles cuts and dos will let you do that.

Blow dry it upside down everyday with a big round brush to give it soem volume.

try sprunching it with sprunch spray. it quick and easy. and it gives hair more volume.
when you get out of the shower put either gel or mouse all over.. and blow dry it! it gives more volume and make it look thick and full.
While blow drying your hair, use a brush or comb to brush your hair towards the back of your head, and then brush it towards the front of your head, so that your hair is in your eyes. Keep doing this until your hair is completely dry. It works for me.
There's an article in the August issue of Seventeen that tells you how to get a perfect blow-out and it works really well. I tried it, and my thin straight hair was much fuller. You should try it and see if it works. If it doesn't, go and buy some volumizing mousse and hair spray.
Use rollers over night to give volume and curls.
Set it on large rollers and comb it out in the morning.
If you take a shower every morning, when you get out, put in an anit friz cream(this will make the curls stay longer and more volumized), take the bottom layer of hair and curl it. Once the bottom is taken care of, do the top layer. (Bigger curlers for bigger curls and vice-versa.) Once that's done, spray your hair with strong hairspray and let air dry. If ur in a rush then blow dry but it looks better natural.
Have a stylist to give some layering to your hair. Use a volumizing shampoo and blow dry on yr roots with yr head down. You can style your hair in by adding a little wax at just the ends.
I have straight, thin hair, and this is what I do. Use a good conditioner that will not weigh your hair down (I use Crema by Terax). Then use a really good mousse that has a thick texture to it, almost like shaving cream (I use Cristalli Illuminating Molding Mousse by AlfaParf) and dry your hair in sections using a round brush. Use a CHI iron just on the ends to smooth it out. Then get yourself a teasing comb. (Sally's Beauty supply $2.50) and take small sections and tease them going against whichever way you part your hair. Smooth it down with your brush, but do not comb out the part that is teased. Finish with a good, weightless hair spray like Sebastian Shaper Spray. Teasing gives you that much sought after volume, and it will hold. You can tease to get volume WITHOUT getting the "I'd like to thank the Academy for this Country Music award" look. I promise! Hope this helps you!
There is this product by "Big Sexy Hair" and I believe it is calles root thicking. But all of there products work REALLY well. So I would but product (big and sexy hair) in your hair and then when you blow dry, Use a Round brush, and blow dry from the root to the end, making sure that when you dry the root you hold it up. This should create volume. Also A layered hair cut will help.

I got some shampoo from QVC, by Nick Chavez. I used that and the conditioner. It is not cheap, but it does a long way, I skimp when I use it, but I can't believe the difference in my hair.
People can't believe that it is the only thing I am doing different, my hair has some body and doesn't just lie there. It looks and feels thicker. I love it.

Japannese hair straighting - my hair came out wonderful, but again, after i washed it, it was a LITTLE easier to manage and when i blew it out, which pretty much took me the same amount of time it would before i got it done, i got the same results.

I can't recommend enough the book "Curly Girl" - the care and feeding of curly hair.
It's informative and funny, with lots of great homemade treatments for your hair.
try dove theropy it works great and makes it smooth
as stupid as it sounds, try that brush that spins. i'm so sorry i can't remember the name. but google "hair straightening brush". my friend bought it from the infomercial and she has the absolute WORST hair to deal with. it takes a while to do, but there are no chemicals or anything like that. just brush through your dry hair and it really really works. for your hair i'd say it would take about an hour or so but you'd only have to do it a couple times a week.

try pantene. the one for women of color though since your hair is nappy and also get the cream and apply it while your hair is wet then blow dry it. it should make it soft and smooth but if it doesnt then you need a miracle gurl!
wow, your hair looks a lot like my hair! it gets really poofy when you try to straighten it, right? well, i would try using some heaving conditioners like john frieda and pantene pro-v. using three step systems (like, shampoo, conditioner and serum) help to condition your hair to make it softer and have less flyaways when you straighten it. i like to blow dry my hair first, and then straighten it with a ceramic flat iron on the highest heat setting. but i think you should also embrace your hair. people tell me that they like my wavy hair because it looks natural and compliments me. you have your own unique hair, and it's not always going to look like those girls who were born with natural straight hair! once you accept this fact, you'll find styles that will match your hair and you'll start to love your hair. hope my advice helped.

Ok, so my hair is pretty thick and when I wake up in the morning I get these "dents" in my hair, kinda like bed hair. Imagine my hair looking like an "S" if you will. :( I do not want to straighten it either because I have an oblong face shape, really straight hair makes my face look longer. What can I do to get rid of the dents without making my hair really straight? I'd like to retain some volume and the straightener takes that away.

i have layer hair. the top part is perfectly straight but the underlayer part is so frizzy. after i take a shower, it gets frizzy right away. i have permed it, bought so much straightening shampoo but it never works. i don't want to damage my hair anymore because it makes it very dry. i need to make my hair straight but i don't want to use the blowdryer or iron.
Dont go out and buy anything expensive.
First: Purchase a mild Shampoo (To Clarify hair, I will explain why)
Second: TRIM your hair ends (May 1 1/2 to 2 inches)
Third: Here's the magic part: Mix olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and a "little" honey, (honey u will have to heat so it can blend). Either leave on ALL day or all night (if all nite, DONT use honey)
Use a teaspoon of every oil and honey,.... a little more if ur hair is long or a little less if ur hair is short
Repeat this 3-4 times a week, your hair will grow like a weed, fortify, reconstruct, moisturize, soften %26amp; remove all frizz I promise,..... and it will be super shiny!!!!
The clairifying shampoo will help take the oil off your hair when u shower
You can also use a conditioner but get a light conditioner that wont wiegh ur hair down, becuz u can over condition, I use herbl essences "clean happy" conditioner.
When I do this at nite, I wake up, shampoo %26amp; condition, rinse and style as usual. Has worked for years

If you buy a Chi it wont damage your hair as much as the other straightening irons, and it works well. Other than that not sure. I've always had a slight frizz to my hair and that is the only thing that makes my hair look straight and silky.

if your want stright hair your not going to get it without at least blow drying it. if your hair is damaged try using products to make your hair healthy. my hair is very frizzy/ curly if i dont use a flat iron. you should go to a salon and ask if they have a reconstrustor and hydrator. i use Joico Kpak Deep-Penetrating reconstructor and then the intense hyrdrator along with a strightening shampoo/ conditioner. the first week you use these products you should not use any other products. also only wash your hair every second or third day. over washing can cause your hair to become to dry. after using these products for at least a week or two you should notice a change in your hair then you should try blow drying your hair in sections with a brush. this will make your hair stright then if you still have frizzies you a small amount or pomade or friz serum.
i have a prety good straightner it works just as well as a chi, just not namebrand, its a tourmaline. anyway i use it but it makes my hair like stick straight insteadof whispy straight and pretty like that, any suggestions on how to get that great hair?

First off, I'm a guy, and I can't really be bothered to use a flat iron. I have in the past, and it took too much time. However, I've tried letting my hair be natural (wavy,) but it dosen't work very well for me (it just puffs up and forms cowlicks and stuff.) Simple answer is no. Cut it short and blow dry is the easiest without using chemicals or irons.
I agree blow dry is an alternative. i will not damage your hair but it will last you about two weeks depending on how you keep it.

well for shiny, frizz - free %26amp; sleek hair always blow dry yur hair straight out of the shower, to avoid damage of yur hair blowdry on a middle heat setting if yur hair dryer has that available. Use a frizz- free serum in the spots yu need only, too much makes hair greasy %26amp; constantly look wet. A good way to apply it is to put it in yur hands first then run it through yur hair so it applies evenly easily. Divide yur hair into sections and clip each section up. This way yu can give yur attention to doing the best job for each part. When done if yur hair is fuzzy smooth it down with a smoothing serum or lightly hairspray it then use yur hands to pat over it. If yu want to go for an ultra sheek look yu can always use a straightner so its dead straight. For shiny hair put in a shine serum %26amp; for a night time loook yu can buy shimmer spray that isnt actual glitter ( cause that would be difficult to remove from yur hair ! ) but sparkles just like it !
For hair thats going to stay curly use a curling wand. They create ringlets, the longer yu hold yur hair in the wand the tighter and higher the curls become. If yu twirl yur hair around the wand closely together it becomes like a small tunnel if yu put space between each loop its more of a loose ringlets ( which i personally think looks better ; ) ) Section the hair off %26amp; clip each bit so yu can quickly curl each piece without having to search through yur hair for pieces that go together. But the trick to keeping those curls in is spraying the section yur going to curl with hairspray BEFORE yu put it in the wand, %26amp; to be EXTRA careful its going to stay put, spray it AFTER as well. This will definately stay, but dont go too overboard or yur hair will look %26amp; feel like straw. For loose curls that are similar to the soft, wavy %26amp; shiny style yu described do the same as for curly hair but yu could use a larger thicker curling wand and dont spray with hair spray afterwards, then gently brush the curl with a comb or brush and it will become a wave, continue this throughout yur whole hair. Another way to have luscious wavy hair is to attach a defuser to yur hair dryer %26amp; when yur hairs wet wrap it around the defuser and dry it, when finished it will be dry in a wavy / curly style, also yu can use a barrel brush by wrapping yur hair lightly around the barrel brush and drying it. Finish all these styles with shine spray for that extra glow to make yur hair look really healthy.

Go for the straight hair, you can curl your hair or make it wavy on a temporary basis.
I have very straight hair and have had many perms...stay away..they are awful when they grow out, you have to either choose to re-do them or if you are me cut that stuff out and try again.
Straight is so much easier, if I want curly hair I just put gel in after blow drying , use a curling iron then spray lightly with a stiff spray, may need to use a pin or small clip to hold the hard spot down..

i have super straight hair too and have to use a combo of products to get it shiny and frizz free. i personally like sunsilk's blue shampoo 'for hair that doesn't poof' (i ususally get compliments on my hair on the days i use this shampoo. after washing and drying my hair i use garnier's leave in conditioner for 'sleek and shiny' hair and believe it or not, after styling, i spray tea tree oil on it. it makes my hair feel super soft and look extra shiny, it doesn't look like i have a lot of goop in my hair and i don't use hairspray so my hair isn't hard. it's soft to the touch.

FOR STRAIGHT, FULL HAIR:
After you shower, towel dry as well as possible, and then put mousse in your hands, and then work it into the roots of your hair. Blow dry with your head upside down, focusing on drying the roots. This should hold all day. I recommend using mousse from Down Under Naturals, Got2B, or Marc Anthony.

FOR WAVES:
Three methods.. I use all, depending on how wavy I want my hair:
Do these after you wash your hair and let it air dry.
a) This gives your hair thicker waves. Sleep with your hair in a tight bun as close to your head as possible. Make sure the bun is tight or it'll fall out in your sleep. When you wake up, take out the bun, shake your head (don't comb your fingers through or you'll flatten the waves) and put some mousse if your hair has trouble holding (I don't use mousse).
b) This is more complicated, but I like these waves more. This makes your hair wavier.
- Divide your hair into three sections. I tend to take two chunks of hair on either side of my face, and a chunk of hair underneath.
- Work with each chunk of hair at a time, and divide one chunk into two pieces again. Twist the strands of hair AS CLOSE TO YOUR SCALP AS POSSIBLE, or else you will have straight hair at the top that will go wavy towards the bottom.
- Twist each piece INDIVIDUALLY, and then twist those pieces together.
- Do this for EACH chunk of hair (so when you're done, you will have THREE twists in your hair).
- Sleep in them, and when you wake up, take the twists out but try not to run your fingers through them or you will make the waves frizzy. Add mousse if you'd like, but these kinds of waves really don't need them.
c) Braid your hair like your normally would before bed. But, these waves don't look as natural as the ones above.

FOR AN UPDO:
This is what I do with my hair when I'm up late studying and I don't have time to do anything else at night or in the morning.
Put your hair into a higher, messy sort of bun. Take a large clip, such as the plastic colourful ones they sell at hair salons (I use a heavier duty Chanel clip), pouf up the front of your hair, and use the clip to hold it into place. Make sure the clip placement is very near to where your bun starts on your head.

FOR SUPER STRAIGHT HAIR:
a) Straightening iron
b) If you're not up for heat styling, wash your hair with baby shampoo or any other mild shampoo (mild shampoos ensure that your hair is thicker and more voluminous), and then top it off with a huge glob of conditioner. This'll ensure that your hair is straight, and is kept straight.
**For frizzy hair, use Frizz Control Serum. I don't have problems with frizzy hair myself, but my boyfriend does. I know it sounds pretty gay, but he uses Frizz Control Serum. Look at his hair - if frizz control sereum can control his hair, then it can control yours!

Hi I want to straighten my hair, but don't want to spend $300-400 on a Japanese/Yuko/TR treatment. Can I just get a straight perm? i have been a hair dresser for 15 years and i would sugest no don't get a straight perm . it will not last long and not make your hair staright enough the way you want it to be simple try this et a flat iron with ceramic blades ( works the best) and a product called beyond the zone comes in an orange bottle :turn up the heat" smells like cotton candy spray it on than flat iron your hair it will be less damaging and will give you the look you desire and will last untill your next shampoo after a while of this it will be straight. because you have retrained it.

Ok, i am a guy, and i have long hair. It is the only way i can keep if flat, because it is kind of poofy, and curly. So, i like my hair long, but i cannot get it straight, or neat. When your hair is damp, put Sunsilk 'straighten up' on your hair. It actually keeps your hair straight the whole day and it leaves your hair smelling lustful! lol....It's like 4 or 5 bucks and it's in a purple bottle. Also you could straighten your hair and that does damage it so put 'leave-in' conditioner in your hair. that's good too.

ya need to cut it! haha. just joking. buy a hair sraightener. It helps with getting it less frizzy, less poofy, and less curly. Ya defiantely get what you pay for, so if you want a good one, plan on putting out like 40 to 60 bucks.
You can either use a flat iron, which you can get pretty cheap at Wal-Mart or Target, or blow dry your hair straight with a round brush. Being that you're a guy I would use the flat iron. Dont do it everyday if you dont have to though...it can really damage your hair. Find a hair product that protects your hair from heat styling and use that. Use a shampoo and conditioner that is used to achieve straight hair.

there is a product by "RUSK" it is called "DEEP SHINE" finger that through your hair and then use a flat iron. you will not believe the results. My daughter has really curly thick thick hair. She uses this and her hair is as straight as a pin and soft as a babies bottom. She prefers Conair straightner with the 2 inch ceramic plates about 25- 30 dollars. Also the Rusk you need to get at a beauty supply store. good luck
Just use a straightening iron. They are inexpensive at Wal-Mart or other discount stores. The closer you want to your head though the smaller straightener you want.

I have super straight Asian hair and as long as I could remember I would like to touch my hair. But sometimes I would find strands that feel really weird and it would be all weird. The strands would be kinky, wiry, and curly. Almost as if someone used a really tight crimper on it. But it's only a few strands scattered around my head. Why do I have this? I noticed a few of my friends had this too and they are also asian with straight hair. Is this just damaged hair? But my friends never even dyed their hair nor did I when I first noticed these weird strands, virgin hair I say.

it is just damaged strands probably caused by not enough conditioning. it's completely normal so don't worry about it just make sure you apply your conditioner on evenly and completely.
Genetics. This is very common %26amp; not just in asian women. You were born this way. There's nothing you did to make this occur. This is just your hair texture.
It could be static. A shine serum or anti-frizz by John Frieda works wonders when mine decides to stand on end. Whether your hair has been processed or not, environmental damage like extreme heat, extreme cold, wind and overbrushing can cause flyaway, coarse hair with a different texture.
I have stick straight hair, and I do not want to curl it because it takes too much time and energy and in the end: it doesn't even stay for more than an hour.

My hair is naturally curly and I've heard that if you're getting headshots done and you have naturally curly hair you should wear it curly and not straighten it. However, my naturally curly hair can get very puffy and frizzy and I don't know if maybe i should wear my hair straight for the picture. If you wear your hair curly on a normal day, wear it curly for the head shot and use a curl serum, an a good conditioner. I have really curly hair and it gets poofy too when it drys. I purchased herball essences hello hydrating conditioner and my hair is so soft and manageable i also bought care free curl, curl restorer it helps remove the frizz. the conditoner on it's own is good though. good luck.

I understand. Picking hairstyles can be hard. I think that whatever is more natural to you would be the right answer. Headshots need to communicate who YOU ARE. If you normally straighten you hair and are more likely to walk into an audition with your hair straightened, then keep it that way.

One reason your hair may not get as straight as you want it could be that your iron isn't hot enough but you should use styling products that could add to the problem. I suggest you use a styling gel, if you have thick or curly hair or a styling mousse, if you have thin or fine hair. Blow dry your hair as straight as you can as this will help your iron along, after its dry use a product called Shine Infusion by CHI it makes your hair shiny, de-frizzes and protect your hair from the heat of blow drying and ironing, it is a great product I use it everyday on my clients, spray a little in your hair but not too much or it will look greasy, and then section your hair into two sections top and bottom, then on the bottom section take small pieces at a time, going slowly down the hair shaft (not too slow or you will see alot of smoke, that's not good) and continue this around the whole head and the finish of with a light hairspray to keep it in place and that's it. hope this helps

I never had any luck with inexpensive flat irons that you get in a drugstore. Then I bought a good-quality ceramic one (HAI) and that did the trick. I don't think those drugstore ones get hot enough. And my hair isn't curly, just really wavy.
use a bit of frizz serum [i use frizz-ease serum from john freida, they have it at the drugstores]. work a little in your ends before you straighten it. it'll look oily, but a HOT [i use 400 degrees, it seems high but the serum helps protect your hair] straightener will eliminate that and leav you with pin-straight hair. let each section you straighten cool a bit, then blow dry the ends it on a COOL setting to lock in the straight...ness. :] good luck
yep i have to agree with the ceramic straightner..not cheap but it will save you lots of time and effort, its always good 2 2 use something in it that will protect it from the heat so when you use anything with heat in your hair a lot it wont dry out and damage your hair!!

Hardly.
In reality there are a lot of commercials (especially hair ones) that show women with full, voluminous curls and waves. It is true hair color commercials are mostly straight hair but that's probably because straight hair shows highlights and color better than some curly hair.
But as far as product goes, try and shift your focus because there are definitely a lot of bouncy curls goin on in those commercials. :)
personally ive got straight hair but ive always wanted to have wavy hair coz it looks so awesome... everytime i go out i curl my hair for a change... i think that straight hair is just naturally shinier and smoother, to show that the hair products work...but curly hair is awesome too...as long as its not frizzy

I think (as i realize someone already said) highlights show up better on a straight surface than a wiggly one :) I think you can better see all the layers and colours in pin straight hair. the more body hair has, the less you notice exactly where the colour depth is.. I mean, that's my guess. I find commercials for shampoo products show more curly or wavy hair because it bounces more.

guess what i was straight hair...but now thats out and the 80's are back with the tight curls! yes i find it annoying that the straight look is shoved down our throats! The next time you get a haircut have your stylist chip it out. By chipping you will be able to get more volume. In some parts of the county it is called framing, texturizing.

I dont know what to do with my hair its thick straight and blonde. I have an oval face. I dont like curly hair and i usally just put it in a hafe pony tail, have any ideas or good websites to find hair styles.
i dont know if u like curly hair or not, so i put a few suggestions down anyway, and some other ones:
for waves, sleep in braids. (the number depending on how wavy you want your hair. i would probably recommend about eight or so) then you just take them out in the morning and just brush the top of your hair. you can use hairspray, but i usually dont need it, but then again, my hair holds waves really well......
and if you shower in the morning, scrunch your hair with mousse and it looks pretty good but might get a little frizzy.
and as for just regular hairstyles, i would try sidebangs or whispy bangs instead of thick ones......dont know ....
you can also do buns, because they are pretty in, or low pigtails, but you might be a little old for them, but my sister in college looks cute in them so i dont know.....
and side ponytails are cute and sporty.
as for hairbands, very cute and in!!!
u could wear your hair half-up, leaving your bangs down.....

personally i would recommend some long layers starting no shorter than chin length then ask you stylist to frame the layers around your face. this will add some movement and style but you can keep long hair and you can still put it up

Oh my GOD! I have medium, straight, blonde hair with natural highlights, too! How weird? Last year, I got long layers with sideswept bangs, I miss it! I got it cut to my chin with pieces in front (think claire danes in brokedown palace) and then razor edging to give it texture with splicing to keep it looking a little chunky/choppy. I have an oval face as well. I LOVE my haircut. My hair has always been very long, but this is just so flirty.
I didn't like having stick straight blah hair that did nothing. With it shorter like this, I have TONS of body and volume and style, and I barely have to do anything to it to make it look great! And it's very feminine.
if you're not ready to chop off yor hair, start thinking about multi-length bangs. A friend of mine did that last month. Demi bangs that got gradually, chunkily longer. A GREAT face-frame, and an easy way to add interest to not-so-lively hair.
whatever you decide to do, I always let my stylist have a lot of control. I trust her. They're trained to understand individual face-shape and hair types. Take suggestions from them!

Start with wet hair if possible. Comb hair up and out so it gets body.
Depending on the thickness of your hair, part it into at least four sections using a large-toothed comb.
Braid each section and secure with a no-snag elastic hairband.
Sleep in the braids overnight to get the best look.
Unbraid your hair when you get up in the morning. Bend over and tousle your hair with your fingers.
Divide each of the four sections into four individual sections with a rat-toothed comb. Do this one section at a time.
With each of the four "mini" sections, backcomb your hair gently until you achieve your desired Afro.
if you backcombe it, then it goes all bushy, but a dont know how to gt afro hair - sorry

I think really the only way to do it is to get a REALLY heavy duty perm. You'll have to get some pretty damn tiny curls, and if you don't have a lot of hair (or particularly thick hair), you'll probably have to get extensions to help with the extreme valume required for an afro.
Once your hair is super extra curly, you'd probably have to use a volumizing shampoo to get it bigger, back comb it a ton, brush it out, and use plenty of hairspray.

It depends on the man. Personally, I like woman who don't try to change themselves to attract me. If you have wavy or curly hair just leave it natural. If someone likes you just because you have straight hair, you don't need that kind of attention.

straight hair on men looks like you made an effort and the best way to keep it is to put a little serum on it first and then a touch of wax to keep it in longer....
Sure straight hair is fine. You could use a product like Bedhead, keeps the frizz down and holds straighness longer.

Get a good ceramic hair straightener. You can straighten the night before - and just do a little maintenance in the morning. I know several people with hair like yours that do this.

I have fine, straight hair that puffs up and frizzes very bad after I take a shower and dry it off. I'm a male and want to give it a weighted down look with the straight look and without the frizzes. Is there any type of hair styling product I can use to fix this? I don't want to use gel because it hardens the hair and beeswax gives it that gooey/smelly effect. Thanks.
Try BedHead's "After Party".. it just makes the hair really light and soft... It might help tame the frizz.
use conditioner in the shower. there are also "leave in" conditioners you can apply to damp hair after showering.
note to the chick who uses pantene- don't. ask your stylist, she should confirm that almost all products, and i know this sounds silly, the start with a "P" are bad for your hair. but i've heard this from several sources. i think it has something to do with containing silicone.
I'd look into a anti-frizz serum product -- there are many varieties available in the health %26amp; beauty section of your drug store.
i have the same kind of hair, and i always get "fly-aways" for my shorter strands. i got pantene anti-frizz serum. it works really well for me. it's a bit on the expensive side, but it's worth it, imo.

Shampoo, Conditioner, Affter Shower anti-frizz stuff. Try Ganai Frutis. They Woor really well for oily and hard to grow hair. Just look them up and see what they can do for you.
There are some sprays, for this I'm not sure what brands, they are located in the same isle as the shampoos, they will say for frizz control, many women use these, but they work the same on men, one of them are (excuse spelling) Garnier nutrients, in a green round bottle, this one pumps out, you put a small ammount one the hand and work it through the hair.

Well,some of my friends wash,but don't dry all the way,then put in mousse or crimping stuff and toss. if not,then I'm sorry you will have to use hot rollers,but it doesn't take that long though plus you can leave them in while you do other things then take them out.

When you get out of the shower, scrunch it up in your hands for a bit while its still wet... Add a lot of gel and just keep scrunching it. It will give you a wet look for the majority of the day too!! My hair is pretty thick and it works for me all the time.

Well, if you don't have thick hair, it's really hard. But if you do, just take a shower, or wet all your hair, and let it air dry.
I depends on how straight your hair is- if it has a bit of natural wave, this will make it a more curly, but if your hair is absolutely straight, this will give it a wave. Brush your hair in the shower, with conditioner still in it. Then rinse the conditioner out- but dont brush or comb your hair again. towel dry your hair- not doing a crazy back and forth shake with it, just pat it down with a towel. comb through a little with your fingers if you like. Then, use either leave-in conditioner or hair gel (not a lot, otherwise it gets crunchy), making sure to get gel on the fingertips in between fingers- and starting at the roots, using your fingers to sort of lightly toss/comb through your hair. and do at the back of your head, underneath as well (otherwise only the top layer will be cruly) then, scrunch the ends of the hair. my sister likes to lightly twirl the gel-ed hair around her finger to make ringlets. dont use too much gel- otherwise it will weight the hair down. then DONT touch it!!! leave it to dry. If you want like wavy hair, you should get a semi perm. Not the spiral perm, but just kinda like a wave. That way, if you ever just want to wear it straight, you can just straighten it :)

Keep your hair in a pony tail then try braiding it.
You can perm your hair or just use an elastic band to hold the hair then tuck it under the bottom of the hair so it makes the bump at the front then you can use gel over the top of the hair then you can use the gel to style the back.
i have really long and straight hair and i was wondering, do curl creams or curl activators work on straight hair? will it make really really straight hair curly without the use of blow dryers or curling irons? because i have an extremely hard time maintaining curly hair even if i use hairspray with extreme hold. i got this shampoo its called wash and curl i think i bought it at walgreens/longs u get it I have straight long hair too so i wash my hair with it and i braide it with gel my hair stayed curly for 3 days! 3 days! my hair usually would be flat in 3 hours or less! I also crimped/curled my hair and it stayed in for 14 hours soo i think it could do u some good. o0o and advice for when u curl when ur hair is wet put a mousse in then dry it as usaly when u curl it dont spray hairspray on it right away its wet and thats what akes it come out let the curled hair cool down for a couple of minutes and then spray
no curl activator doesn't work on straight hair
You still need to wash and set your entire head of hair in rollers when you curl creams/activators on straight hair
however your curls should probably last for between 10 - 12 hrs before you need to re-set your hair again.
Try rollers setting your hair and sleeping in it so that you can have nice curls in the morning that will last all day long
try if possible to air dry your roller sets it can take a few hours
my hair is actually quite straight ..however it is very dense and thick and my face structure is pretty small ... i do use straightner to flatten it out and the results are really good .. it balances the density of thankfully the quality of my hair is real good and all this heat doesnt have a very bad effect on my hair ... i wanna go in for permanen straightening .. however i have noticed that the result of that is extremely poker straight hair which i do not want .. i wish to have the result of a 'flattening iron hair' and not an extremely poker straight hair ... i heard hair salons offer 2 options in this regard ... any clue wot those are ?

I would defentaly not go for a perm beacause your in a couple of moths going to end up with not strait hair at the top and beautifully strait hair at the bottam.I have for years straitend my hair and am very tired of doing it and my hair is very heat damaged.It sounds crazy but when u shower use conditioner mixed with a heat blocker no shampoo.Also you might consider going for a cerimic straitner which does cost some cash but is well worth it...also...try blow-drying your hair strait and then straiten the peices that dont quite make it ...

well im not so sure but you can try buying a ceramic hair straightener that doesn't burn you hair as much try buying the brand chi its really good or you can ask the ladies at the salon to cut in between your hair so you wont have so much i do that cuz i have the same problem but just tell them that you want some of your hair cut off not as in length but as in thickness but i dont know what its called though cuz the lady that cuts my hair speaks spanish so i dont know how to say it in english but i hope this helped you a little

1. Conditioner for oily hair
I have naturally oily, straight hair and I used a shampoo with conditioner and then applied a leave-in conditoner to prevent static. It worked! I used mousse and a bit of hair spray and was static-free almost all day.

I have super long (3 1/2 ft. from crown to tips), super thin, super straight hair and static in the winter is a nightmare for me. I have learned 3 good ways of combating it however. #1 Keep a trial size bottle of a leave in spray conditioner with you at all times (you can buy these in drug stores for pennies). #2 Run a dryer sheet over your hair. #3 Spray something like Static Guard over your hair (this may stink but it's effective).
8. Smooth Hair
My stylist told me that when you rinse out your conditioner, you should use colder water. When you look at a piece of hair under a microscope, it looks like the shingles of a roof. When you use colder water to rinse out your conditioner, it closes those "shingles" and makes your hair smoother.
9. Better hair
Before showering, I comb my hair one last time. This helps to distribute the natural oils in your hair. When in the shower, I usually comb my conditioner into my hair paying special attention to the tips because this is where your hair has less moisture. When I'm done I usually blast cold water onto my hair. This helps with keeping the hair moisturized since it closes the hair shaft and it makes your hair extremely shiny.
